Floyd Waddell purchased his first truck for transporting goods in 1924. Prior to this, he had started the transfer company with a horse and a wagon. Floyd's son Ellis ran the business after his father. Ellis’ wife Helen took over after his passing. Helen's son Walter and grandson Marty are the current owners/operators along with Walter's wife Brenda and Marty's wife Pam.
In 2004 Waddell Transfer, Inc. built a new, larger facility with four bays and a loading dock, located at 6055 Lee Highway in Atkins, VA, giving us the capability to grow as our needs change.
We are a regional transportation company, delivering within a 1,000 mile radius of Atkins, VA. We do our best to make sure freight stays on schedule while also getting drivers home once during the week and also do our best to get them home every weekend.
